Transform Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers
If your smile is overshadowed by the presence of chips, cracks, or severe discoloration, porcelain veneers can conceal imperfections and enhance your smile. Veneers are custom-fabricated using a stain-resistant form of ceramic that blends in with your natural smile. At the Advanced Dental Center, in Plano, TX, Dr. Christine Hopkins works closely with a specialized ceramist to deliver the most natural-looking and beautiful porcelain veneers possible. We can offer dental veneers as a stand-alone treatment or as part of a larger cosmetic treatment plan for a complete smile makeover.
When are Veneers Recommended?
Porcelain veneers are shells of ceramic affixed to the front teeth to conceal a wide range of cosmetic issues, including:
- Chips or cracks
- Worn teeth
- Minor misalignment
- Uneven or irregularly shaped teeth
- Gaps in your smile
Veneers are also useful for smiles affected by severe discoloration that resists professional teeth whitening.
However, porcelain veneers are not right for every patient. You must be in good oral health and have a sufficient amount of healthy enamel to support the veneers. In certain cases, Dr. Hopkins may recommend an alternative, such as teeth whitening or Invisalign®.
Understanding the Benefits
While not a universal cosmetic solution, veneers can offer the benefits of an orthodontic treatment, teeth whitening, and dental crowns. Dr. Hopkins works with a skilled ceramist, who takes an artistic approach to fabrication. A ceramist can layer the porcelain so that it mimics the translucency of natural teeth. With proper care, a set of porcelain veneers from the Advanced Dental Center can boost your self-confidence for many years to come.
Receiving Your Veneers
Once Dr. Hopkins determines you are a good candidate for veneers, she can take a series of x-rays and photographs to create a mockup of your expected result. If you are satisfied with this projected outcome, she can then prepare your teeth. In most cases, she will need to remove a fine layer of enamel from the front of the teeth that are receiving veneers. The exact amount of enamel removed will depend on the anatomy of your teeth.
With proper care, a set of porcelain veneers from the Advanced Dental Center can boost your self-confidence for many years to come.
After your teeth are fully prepared, the doctor can take a series of impressions to send to our ceramist. If necessary, we can fit you with a set of temporary veneers to reduce sensitivity and protect your teeth during the interim between your appointments.
Before placing the final veneers at your second appointment, Dr. Hopkins will first verify their shape and appearance. She can trim and reshape the ceramic, as well as fine tune their color with chairside custom shading. The doctor can then secure the veneers to the front of your teeth using a strong adhesive to ensure longevity.

"I have been going to Dr. Hopkins for years now. I was looking for a general dentist but also a doctor that also had a prosthodontist background so any major work that I would require in the future could be done by the doctor who has regularly worked on me. Dr Hopkins has met and even exceeded my expectations in oral care."Julie W.
