Comprehensively Repair Your Smile with a Custom Reconstruction
Several missing teeth, extensive damage or decay, or untreated gum disease can make everyday life more challenging. After years of unchecked oral health issues, you may not know how to start pursuing a healthier, more radiant smile.
Dr. Christine Hopkins is a distinguished prosthodontist who can combine dental treatments into a customized full mouth reconstruction. Because she specializes in rehabilitating missing teeth, Dr. Hopkins can complete most phases of your treatment at Advanced Dental Center in Plano, TX. You can receive care under the same skilled dentist from start to finish rather than traveling between different practices for the multiple phases of treatment.
While a smile makeover is designed for patients who want to enhance the look of their smile, a full mouth reconstruction is intended to correct functional concerns such as:
- Gum disease
- Multiple missing teeth
- Bone loss
- Multiple cavities
- Large or malfunctioning fillings
- Damaged or fractured teeth
- Jaw pain due to temporomandibular joint disorders
- Excessive wear due to teeth grinding
Each full mouth reconstruction is designed to address multiple oral health concerns at once. Depending on your needs, Dr. Hopkins may recommend dental implants, crowns, dentures, or a combination of restorative treatments.
If you are someone who hides your smile because of the way it looks or has difficulty chewing because of broken or damaged teeth, you may be a good candidate for this treatment.
Because every treatment plan is unique, we can help you build a full mouth rehabilitation that fits your budget.
The Treatment Process
The cost and duration of your full mouth reconstruction treatment will depend on the extent of your oral health issues, as well as your desired outcomes. In general, treatment is completed in several phases.
Consultation & Imaging
During your initial exam, Dr. Hopkins will conduct imaging to get an in-depth look at the health of your smile. Digital x-rays expose you to the lowest possible amount of radiation while revealing oral health problems that are not visible to the naked eye.
If you have unchecked gum disease or cavities, Dr. Hopkins will need to address these symptoms prior to performing your restorative treatments.
Prolonged tooth loss can lead to jawbone deterioration. In order to give your implants the most stable foundation, Dr. Hopkins may recommend bone augmentation such as a bone graft or sinus lift. These procedures are typically performed three to six months prior to implant placement.
Dental Implant Placement
If you have missing teeth, dental implants are widely considered the most aesthetic, functional way to replace missing teeth. During implant surgery, Dr. Hopkins and a trusted surgeon will place biocompatible posts in your jawbone. These will fuse with your jawbone over the next three to six months. During this time, you will receive a temporary restoration to wear.
Receiving Your Restorations
Depending on the extent of your damage and your number of missing teeth, your restorations may consist of customized porcelain crowns, dental bridges, or partial or full dentures. Once you receive your permanent restorations, you can enjoy an improved ability to eat, speak, and smile.

"I have been going to Dr. Hopkins for years now. I was looking for a general dentist but also a doctor that also had a prosthodontist background so any major work that I would require in the future could be done by the doctor who has regularly worked on me. Dr Hopkins has met and even exceeded my expectations in oral care."Julie W.
